Energy Experts to Chart Digital Future at NAN Press Week Lecture

Energy leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders are set to converge in Lagos for high-level discussions on the digital transformation of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The sessions will form part of the 2025 Press Week of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Chapel, scheduled for Sept. 22–26, 2025.

Theme: Digital Evolution of Oil & Gas

The Press Week, jointly announced by Mrs Vivian Ihechu, Chairman of the Press Week Committee, and Mr Adeyemi Adeleye, Secretary of NUJ NAN Lagos Chapel, will run with the theme: “Transforming Energy: The Digital Evolution of Oil and Gas.”

Ihechu, Assistant Editor-in-Chief at NAN, said the theme reflects the sector’s shift towards digital technologies driving efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. “Energy remains the bedrock of civilisation, powering economies, businesses, and everyday life. Our goal is to convene experts to chart the digital future of Nigeria’s oil and gas,” she explained.

Week-Long Events

The Press Week kicks off on Sept. 22 with a health walk and free medical check-up, tagged “Stride Toward a Healthier You.” The walk begins at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, by 9 a.m., and ends at the NAN premises, National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, in partnership with Lion Club International District 404B4.

Sept. 23 will feature a Cultural Day at NAN’s Multi-purpose Media Complex, celebrating Nigeria’s diverse heritage and promoting unity in diversity.

Sept. 24 marks the highlight of the week with the keynote lecture and symposium on “Transforming Energy: The Digital Evolution of Oil and Gas.” The event will hold at the NPA Main Hall Sports Centre, Surulere, starting 11 a.m.

Industry Leaders to Speak

The keynote address will be delivered by Mr Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi). Other confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr Clement Isong, CEO, Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN)
  • Dr Muda Yusuf, CEO, Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE)
  • Prof Wumi Iledare, Emeritus Professor of Petroleum Economics, Louisiana State University
  • Dr Ayodele Oni, Partner & Chair, Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group, Bloomfield Law Practice
  • Mr Olohundare Jimoh, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State

The event will be chaired by Mr Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) and MD/CEO of Geoplex Drillteq Ltd.
