The Federal Government has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its transformative contributions to Nigeria’s industrial growth, urging greater adoption of Made-in-Nigeria products.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, gave the commendation during an inspection tour of NASENI facilities in Abuja on Monday, August 11, 2025. Sites visited included the NASENI Innovation Hub, the NASENI technology site at Abuja Technology Village, the NASENI Troment facility, and the Abuja Technology Park in the Idu Industrial Area.

The visit formed part of the ministry’s wider effort to assess local industrial capacity and review high-impact projects driving the Federal Government’s Nigeria First Policy — an agenda focused on boosting domestic production, encouraging local consumption, and creating jobs through industrialisation.

“What I have seen here today are not just plans or MoUs these are tangible, 100% Made-in-Nigeria products. I’ve seen happy investors who are setting the pace locally, regionally, and globally,” said Dr. Oduwole after the tour.

At each stop, the Minister praised the vision and commitment of NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, in promoting indigenous products. She was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi; the Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi; and senior directors from both the Ministry and NASENI.

During the tour, Dr. Oduwole inspected NASENI’s product showroom, visited the Troment factory — which is slated to produce world-class pharmaceuticals including HIV vaccines — and toured the Innovation Hub. She even rode alongside the EVC/CEO in NASENI’s anti-ballistic missile armoured vehicle.

Describing NASENI’s work as a catalyst for national economic transformation, the Minister urged the agency to sustain its commercialisation drive, continue knowledge sharing, and inspire the younger generation.

Mr. Halilu thanked the Minister and ministry officials for the visit and called for stronger collaboration to boost productivity. He also told reporters that NASENI currently has over 40 market-ready products capable of competing on the global stage, with further innovations underway.
