FG Says Capital Projects Distribution Equitable Under Tinubu’s Administration
By NaijaEnquirer Staff
The Presidency has dismissed claims that the Bola Tinubu administration is favoring certain regions in project allocation, insisting that infrastructure development and resource distribution are equitable across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
According to the Presidency, President Tinubu’s government is guided by the principles of fairness, justice, and equity in implementing federal projects, appointments, and economic opportunities nationwide.
“Contrary to misleading narratives, this administration has shown an uncommon commitment to balanced development and inclusivity,” the statement read. The government noted that major projects are ongoing across all regions, with no part of the country sidelined.
Highlighting key interventions, the Presidency listed the construction of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway (750 km), the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway (1,068 km), and the rehabilitation of the Eastern rail corridor from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. Out of the total length of road projects under execution, the North accounts for 52% and the South for 48%.
The government also revealed that light rail projects worth ₦150 billion in Kano and ₦100 billion in Kaduna have been secured, while Lagos and Ogun States are benefiting from metroline projects. Collectively, these efforts are expected to create over 250,000 jobs nationwide.
On funding and approvals, the data shows the following regional allocations:
- Northwest: ₦5.97 trillion (over 40% of approvals)
- South South: ₦2.41 trillion
- North Central: ₦1.13 trillion
- South East: ₦407 billion
- North East: ₦400 billion
- South West (excluding Lagos): ₦604 billion
The Presidency emphasized that equity also reflects in federal appointments and new development initiatives, including five Regional Development Commissions and the newly created Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
“President Tinubu is building national infrastructure, not sectional trophies. His leadership is inclusive, his vision is unifying, and his commitment to fairness remains unwavering,” the statement concluded.
