Ghana’s Petroleum Commission has commended Nigeria’s pioneering local content framework and expressed readiness to strengthen regional cooperation aimed at enhancing skills, industrial capacity, and cross-border value chains.

The commendation came from the Acting Deputy CEO of the Ghana Petroleum Commission, Nasir Alfa Mohammed, during the 14th Practical Nigerian Content (PNC) Forum 2025 held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

“Nigeria has led the way in local content, inspiring peers across Africa. We are committed to translating this leadership into practical, actionable programs that benefit our industries and communities,” Mohammed stated.

He highlighted 15 years of cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria, noting that their partnership has included formal technical exchanges and regulatory agreements that support workforce development and supplier growth.

“Interoperable procurement and joint training programs are essential to empower local enterprises and equip professionals with the right skills,” he added.

Mohammed emphasized that regional collaboration in oil and gas is critical for job creation, industrialization, and stronger integration across Africa’s energy sector.

“Our ambition is to develop platforms that ensure skills and investments circulate within the region, benefiting both countries and the broader continent,” he said.

He also referenced earlier engagements, including the 12th Local Content Conference and Exhibition in Nigeria, where priorities such as workforce development, supplier growth, and cross-border partnerships were reaffirmed.

“We are ready to deepen partnerships, exchange lessons, and pursue initiatives that grow the local industry while securing a brighter energy future for our people,” Mohammed noted.

The Deputy CEO concluded with a call for sustained cooperation, expressing confidence that the Nigeria–Ghana local content alliance will continue to thrive and remain mutually beneficial.

“On behalf of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission of Ghana, I wish delegates fruitful deliberations and enduring collaborations,” he said, drawing applause from participants.

The remarks highlight the growing pan-African commitment to local content development, showcasing how Nigeria’s model continues to influence continental energy policies and drive regional integration.
