Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies, Osa Igiehon, will advocate for Africa’s energy sufficiency at the 2025 U.S.-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF) in Houston, Texas. The two-day event, taking place on August 6–7, will bring together top-level U.S. and African policymakers, investors, and energy innovators.

Driving Energy Independence Through Innovation

Igiehon is scheduled to deliver a keynote Executive Insight and join the Explorers Town Hall, where he will present Heirs Energies’ strategy for tackling Africa’s energy deficit through local capacity, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

“We see Africa’s energy future as a dual opportunity – unlocking frontier plays and stewarding brownfield assets responsibly,” said Igiehon. “Indigenous firms like ours must lead the charge in setting world-class operational standards while delivering shared prosperity.”

Gas Monetisation and Brownfield Excellence

Heirs Energies, Nigeria’s largest wholly indigenous energy firm, operates across the oil and gas value chain. It is currently supplying gas to three major power plants in Eastern Nigeria, and is investing heavily in infrastructure to bolster Nigeria’s electrification efforts.

“Every molecule must count – not just for production, but for powering homes and fuelling industries,” Igiehon noted. “That’s the benchmark we’re setting for indigenous energy leadership.”

Africapitalism at Work

The company’s philosophy is rooted in Africapitalism – a belief championed by its parent company, Heirs Holdings, that Africa’s private sector must drive development while delivering economic and social returns.

Heirs Energies aims to turn this vision into action through responsible brownfield management, domestic gas commercialisation, and capacity-building partnerships. Its USAEF participation reflects a broader push to align Africa’s energy ambitions with global sustainability goals.

Forum to Shape Africa-U.S. Energy Relations

The USAEF 2025 will focus on creating a favourable investment climate in hydrocarbons, gas, and renewables. Heirs Energies’ involvement highlights the rising confidence in African-led energy solutions.

Bottom Line: As Africa seeks to close its energy access gap, Heirs Energies is stepping forward with a bold message: the continent’s energy future must be shaped by Africans, for Africans – responsibly, efficiently, and sustainably.
