The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has inaugurated a tripartite committee aimed at enhancing regulatory compliance, streamlining processes, and improving security and operational efficiency within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The inauguration meeting was chaired by Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, Director of Corporate Services at the NCDMB. Other key members of the committee include OGA-Okwoche Paul, representing the Ministry of Interior, and DCI O.G. Oloruntoba, representing the Nigerian Immigration Service.

During the session, the committee formally adopted its Terms of Reference, outlining strategic objectives designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the management of expatriate operations within the oil and gas sector.

Key areas of focus include the development of a Digital Application Programming Interface (DAPI), harmonisation of procedures for issuing Temporary Work Permits and Expatriate Quotas, and the establishment of clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track compliance and performance.

The committee also underscored the importance of stakeholder sensitisation and regular progress reporting, noting that sustained engagement and clear communication would be critical to the success of the initiative.

According to participants, the collaboration between the NCDMB, MOI and NIS represents a significant step toward creating a more secure, compliant and streamlined operational environment for operators in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The initiative is expected to strengthen regulatory oversight while reducing bottlenecks, enhancing national security interests, and supporting the effective implementation of Nigeria’s local content and immigration policies in the energy sector.
