The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has restated its commitment to driving indigenous innovation and fostering stronger collaboration between academia, government, and industry as a catalyst for sustainable national growth.

Speaking at the SciBiz Annual Conference 2025, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu, Director of Corporate Services, reaffirmed that the Board remains focused on translating research outputs into commercially viable solutions capable of transforming Nigeria’s economy.

The conference, themed “Collaborative Ecosystems for Sustainable Innovation and Economic Growth,” convened policymakers, innovators, and business leaders to explore the Triple Helix model — a framework that promotes synergy between government, academia, and industry to co-create solutions to national challenges.

“Through the NCDMB Research and Development Framework, we continue to support initiatives that strengthen linkages between research and industry, promote indigenous innovation, and drive the commercialisation of homegrown solutions,” said Dr. Halilu.

He emphasized that NCDMB’s approach to innovation is not merely theoretical but grounded in practical, result-oriented collaboration that produces measurable impact.

“Our partnership with academia and private sector players is more than symbolic — it represents a practical investment in Nigeria’s future. We are building resilient, inclusive, and innovation-driven systems that will shape the next phase of Nigeria’s industrial development,” he added.

Dr. Halilu noted that the Board’s continued investments in research, capacity building, and technology incubation align with the Federal Government’s drive toward economic diversification and sustainable development.

He explained that by bridging the gap between research institutions and industry players, NCDMB ensures that innovative ideas do not remain dormant but are channelled into real-world applications that create jobs, spur growth, and strengthen Nigeria’s competitive edge in the global energy landscape.

The SciBiz Conference — a platform dedicated to promoting collaboration for science-led economic transformation — featured interactive panel discussions on innovation funding, digital industrialization, and green growth.

Participants agreed that partnerships such as those championed by NCDMB are vital to building a self-reliant economy powered by indigenous solutions and sustainable innovation.
