Nigeria will lead Africa’s contingent to the Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy, from September 9 to 12, 2025, where the continent’s energy needs, opportunities, and transition challenges will be presented to the global community.

The African team includes Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritius, Libya, and Congo, and will join representatives from 143 countries across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. The summit will gather CEOs, ministers, policymakers, and innovators to build new partnerships and address pressing energy challenges.

Nigeria’s delegation will highlight the nation’s strategic gas agenda across four focus areas: natural gas and LNG, AI-powered energy solutions, climate technology, and hydrogen.

According to Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, Manager of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), the company will play a major role at the conference, with senior executives featured in multiple sessions.

NLNG Managing Director, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, will speak on September 11 during a panel on “Advancing Progress on Methane Abatement through Strategic Cooperation and the Mobilisation of Finance and Technologies.” He will highlight the company’s sustainability leadership and commitment to reducing methane emissions in line with global climate goals.

NLNG Deputy Managing Director, Olakunle Osobu, will join a panel on “Operational Excellence through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.” Meanwhile, NLNG’s GM for External Relations, Mrs. Sophia Horsfall, will contribute to a session on “Nurturing the Workforce of Tomorrow through Upskilling and Retention Strategies.”

Other speakers include Nnamdi Anowi, General Manager, Production, who will participate in the Gastech Future Leaders session, highlighting opportunities for young professionals at NLNG.

The Nigerian government delegation will feature Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power; John Enoh, Minister of State for Industry; and Farouk Ahmed, CEO of NMDPRA, among others.

The Milan summit offers Nigeria and Africa an opportunity to forge strategic alliances, advance energy transition goals, and accelerate progress toward a resilient, low-carbon future.
