The NNPC/Seplat Joint Venture has commissioned and formally handed over an advanced integrated Power System and Underground Cabling Project to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) at the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industrial Park Scheme (NOGAPS 1), located in Odukpani, Cross River State.

The official ceremony brought together top officials from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU), and the NCDMB. The event marks the delivery of one of the most technologically sophisticated power distribution systems ever completed under the federal NOGAPS initiative.

‘A Story of Progress and Partnership’ — Seplat Energy

Speaking on behalf of SEPNU’s Managing Director, Mr. Oladotun Isiaka, the General Manager, Corporate Services, Mrs. Emoh Udobong-Ntia, described the project as a major milestone in building sustainable industrial support for Nigeria’s hydrocarbon market.

She explained that the newly delivered infrastructure is not just a standard power installation, but a multi-layered system built for long-term reliability.

“This is not just a single power project. It is an enabling system comprising multiple project layers including a modern switchgear building, 19 packaged substations, over 27 kilometers of medium-voltage cabling, SCADA-enabled smart power systems and synchronized backup generators, to guarantee uninterrupted operations,” she stated.

She emphasized that the work reflects the NNPC/Seplat JV’s ongoing drive to build local capacity, ensure infrastructure reliability and deepen indigenous participation across the nation’s oil and gas value chain.

NCDMB: ‘Power Drives an Economy’

Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Mr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Board’s Manager, Properties, Mr. Taridouye Gagariga, delivered the keynote address and expressed gratitude to SEPNU for achieving such a transformative milestone for NOGAPS.

“Power drives an economy, and we thank Seplat Energy for commissioning power to the park,” he said, adding that the park’s development aligns with NCDMB’s broader vision to create an enabling environment for indigenous industrial growth.

He described the commissioning as the beginning of more strategic Joint Venture milestones that will accelerate the full activation of NOGAPS facilities.

NUIMS: A Boost to Local Manufacturing and Global Standards

In his closing remarks, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NUIMS, Engr. Seyi Omotuwa, said the underground power system will open vast opportunities for industrial growth, reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported components and push local manufacturing capacity toward global standards.

He commended the work delivered under the JV, noting: “In this industry, excellence is not optional and SEPNU’s work reinforces what partnership should look like.”

NOGAPS: Building Nigeria’s Industrial Future

With this commissioning and handover, the NOGAPS Odukpani park moves significantly closer to becoming a fully operational industrial hub capable of energizing local participation, attracting foreign and domestic investments, and strengthening Nigeria’s competitive edge in the global oil and gas market.

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGAPS) is a flagship local content initiative designed to create specialized industrial parks that support in-country manufacturing and technology transfer for the nation’s oil and gas industry.
