Thirty young Nigerians have been awarded fully funded scholarships under the NNPCL/NAE Postgraduate Scholarship Award Scheme to pursue Masters degrees both in Nigeria and overseas.

The scheme provides 10 scholarships of $50,000 each for international Masters programmes in fields such as Geosciences, Engineering, and Petroleum Economics. An additional 20 recipients were each awarded N5 million to fund postgraduate studies within Nigerian universities.

Building the Future of Nigeria

The awards were presented by NNPCL’s Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Oluwaseyi Omotowa—represented by the Deputy Manager, External Relations, NUIMS—alongside Managing Director of Nigeria Agip Exploration Ltd. (NAE), Fabrizio Bolondi.

Omotowa urged the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity, describing the scholarship as both an investment in their future and Nigeria’s economic development. “We expect you to take full advantage of it by pursuing your passions and contributing meaningfully to the growth of our country,” he said.

NAE’s Commitment to Human Capital Development

Bolondi reaffirmed NAE’s dedication to supporting Nigerian talent. “Since its inception in 2004, this scheme has been a platform to support bright Nigerian graduates. We are proud to have supported over 350 scholars so far, and today’s awardees represent the future leaders who will make a difference across industries,” he noted.

A Legacy of Impact

Established in 2004 under the NNPCL/ENI partnership, the initiative has funded over 350 scholarships—with 116 students trained abroad and 255 supported within Nigerian universities.

NNPCL emphasised that the scheme aligns with its broader agenda of community development and national capacity building. “This is one of the many ways NNPC Ltd., through its JV and PSC operations, continues to make a direct impact in the lives of Nigerians and their communities,” the company stated.
