NNPCL To Embark On Strategic Infrastructure Projects Across Oil And Gas Value Chain

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a strategic infrastructure development initiative aimed at boosting oil and gas growth, as the Federal Government sustains fiscal reforms designed to attract new investments into the sector.
Under this initiative, NNPCL will deploy additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping existing downstream facilities nationwide. The new and upgraded assets will be made accessible to partners for product storage and transportation, fostering stronger strategic alliances and collaboration within the downstream sector.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos on Monday. Represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Dr. Mumuni Dagazau, Ojulari reaffirmed NNPCL’s commitment to building infrastructure that enhances operational efficiency and energy accessibility across Nigeria.
Speaking on the conference theme, “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” Ojulari emphasized that collaboration, sustainability, and resilience—not competition alone—are now the true drivers of progress in the energy sector.
“At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping our existing downstream infrastructure nationwide. These assets will be accessible to partners seeking to store and transport products, supporting strategic alliances and collaboration in the downstream sector,” he stated.
He noted that a mix of strategic policies, fiscal incentives, and transparent regulatory frameworks—particularly those under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA)—have stimulated expansion and growth in Nigeria’s energy sector. According to him, this evolution requires new skill sets and increased investment in emerging business areas such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG projects.
Ojulari encouraged stakeholders to engage in discussions that will “redefine energy systems in ways that are both profitable and sustainable, forge cross-sector partnerships beyond traditional competition, and explore innovative business models and technologies that support decarbonization while driving economic value.”
The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week is Africa’s premier downstream and midstream energy event, gathering international organizations, policymakers, regulators, development agencies, operators, and service providers to deliberate on emerging trends shaping the continent’s energy landscape.
