Non-Oil Growth Drives Nigeria’s 2025 Revenue Success – Tinubu
By NaijaEnquirer Staff
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that Nigeria’s 2025 revenue target was achieved in August, driven largely by growth in the non-oil sector. He attributed this milestone to ongoing economic reforms under his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during a meeting with founding members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and The Buhari Organisation, led by former Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the President emphasized that the economy is on a path of stability and predictability.
“The economy is now stabilised. Nobody is trading pieces of paper for foreign exchange anymore. The economy is now predictable. You do not need to know the CBN Governor to obtain forex or import goods. What we need now is to build the ship and vessels for export and create more jobs for our people,” Tinubu said.
Highlighting key priorities, the President said government will establish agricultural mechanisation centres in all regions of the country to strengthen capacity, expand cultivation, and guarantee food sovereignty. He noted that the programme would train young Nigerians while boosting local food production.
Reflecting on his longstanding political journey with the CPC, Tinubu described the merger and collaboration as “a sweet memory,” assuring that the legacies of former President Muhammadu Buhari would be preserved. He revealed plans for a Buhari House to immortalise the former leader and pledged to involve more CPC members in his administration.
“Thank you for your patience until now. But first, we must cure the economy and bring hope to the people, which is what we stand for. Thank you for believing in me,” he told the delegation.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, commended President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership, particularly in accommodating stakeholders across political divides. He also expressed gratitude for the President’s support towards the people and government of Katsina State.
Leading the delegation, Al-Makura reaffirmed the loyalty of CPC members to the APC government and praised Tinubu’s commitment during the final rites of former President Buhari. “You not only buried President Buhari but also honoured him with full military honours. Your presence throughout the ceremony was both comforting and reassuring,” Al-Makura stated.
He assured Tinubu of their continued support, vowing to work for the success of his administration and the APC’s victory in the 2027 elections.
