The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has presented an Award of Excellence to Ronald Adams, Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo), in recognition of his leadership and SNEPCo’s contribution to Nigerian content development in the energy industry.

The award, handed over by PETAN Chairman Wole Ogunsanya during a courtesy visit to SNEPCo’s office, described Adams as an “astute and visionary technocrat,” citing his efforts to sustain SNEPCo’s deep-water performance since assuming office in October 2023.

“The history of local content in Nigeria is Shell. Many industry professionals are ex-Shell, and for those of us in service companies, Shell gave us the jobs that built capacity. Shell has continued this role, and PETAN remains ready to collaborate with Shell to raise local capability,” Ogunsanya said.

Adams expressed gratitude for the recognition and commended PETAN member companies for their role in SNEPCo’s Bonga operations — from first oil in 2005 to the 1 billionth barrel produced in 2023. He noted that investments by international oil companies and independents can deliver lasting impact when organisations like PETAN leverage their experience for sector-wide development.

PETAN comprises over 100 indigenous oilfield service companies with cumulative annual revenues in the millions of dollars and marked its 30th anniversary last year.
