The Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADITOP) has announced that it will not participate in the strike declared by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

ADITOP’s National President, Alhaji Lawan Dan-Zaki, confirmed the association’s stance on Monday in Abuja, distancing members from the industrial action which NUPENG warned could trigger a nationwide fuel scarcity.

NUPENG had threatened to commence a nationwide strike to protest what it described as anti-labour practices tied to the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks by the Dangote Refinery for direct petroleum products distribution.

Dan-Zaki dismissed the strike as uncalled for, stressing that ADITOP fully supports Dangote’s direct distribution programme, which aims to reduce logistics costs, enhance energy efficiency, and promote sustainability.

“We, members of ADITOP, hereby inform the general public and the Federal Government that we dissociate ourselves from any intended strike or disruption by NUPENG and its cohorts. We intend to continue moving petroleum products across the country without fear of molestation,” Dan-Zaki declared.

He added that Dangote’s initiative would sanitise the petroleum distribution system, stabilise supply nationwide, and create jobs while equipping many Nigerians with new skills.

ADITOP reaffirmed its support for any scheme aimed at seamless petroleum product distribution that boosts Nigeria’s economic growth.
