Pipeline vandalism poses grave threat to Nigeria’s economy, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has warned.
By NaijaEnquirer Staff
The company stressed that the country’s heavy reliance on crude oil revenues for governance and development makes it vulnerable to sabotage of critical infrastructure.
Managing Director of Tantita, Engr. Kestin E. Pondi, gave the warning in Abuja while receiving the Grand Defender of the Nation Award (Oil & Gas) during the Niger Delta Night of Honor 2025, an event marking the 10th Anniversary of GbaramatuVoice.
Pondi noted that crude oil theft and pipeline damage significantly reduce national revenue and hinder government’s ability to meet obligations.
Once you touch any pipeline, you hinder the development of this country. Without oil, we would not be able to be who we are; we can’t even pay salaries without the oil,
he stated.
He described the award as recognition of Tantita’s vital role in protecting Nigeria’s oil assets, pledging that the company will intensify its operations to secure crude oil production and exports.
Pondi also urged Nigerians, especially host communities in oil-producing regions, to support security agencies by reporting threats and suspicious activities promptly.
Protecting oil infrastructure must be seen as a collective responsibility, as Nigeria’s economic stability is tied to its oil wealth,
he added.
He emphasized that Tantita remains a key partner in the Federal Government’s war against crude oil theft, deploying community intelligence and advanced surveillance systems across the Niger Delta to safeguard hydrocarbon assets.
