President Bola Tinubu has sent a congratulatory message to the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Dr Adewale Bashir Adeniyi, as he marked his 60th birthday on January 19.
The President rejoiced with the Customs chief on the milestone, describing it as a celebration of decades of dedicated service to the nation, hard work and commitment to excellence.
President Tinubu noted that under Adeniyi’s leadership, the Nigerian Customs Service has recorded landmark reforms that have repositioned the organisation for improved efficiency and service delivery.
He said the Comptroller-General has strengthened community relations, increased revenue generation and enhanced Nigeria’s trade engagement with other countries.
The President also highlighted Adeniyi’s role in transforming the NCS into a globally competitive institution, an effort that culminated in his election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in June 2025.
According to Tinubu, the Customs boss has positively projected Nigeria and Africa on the global stage through inclusive, practical and charismatic leadership at the WCO.
As Dr Adeniyi turns 60, the President prayed that God Almighty would grant him renewed strength, good health and wisdom to continue serving the nation.
