Tinubu Achievements Will Outshine Critics Ahead of 2027, Says Matawalle

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s record in office will ultimately speak for itself as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.

According to the minister, ongoing reforms and government interventions across key sectors will outweigh criticism and political attacks directed at the administration.

Matawalle Defends Tinubu’s Performance

Speaking at a retreat organised by political support groups in the North-West, Matawalle said the President inherited major governance and security challenges but has taken decisive steps to address them.

He argued that the administration has continued to pursue policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure, and expanding opportunities for citizens. The minister maintained that Tinubu’s leadership has remained focused on long-term solutions despite facing difficult national circumstances.

Security Efforts Yielding Results

Matawalle pointed to recent gains in the fight against insecurity as evidence of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He said increased support for the military and other security agencies has improved their operational capacity in several parts of the country.

According to him, Northern Nigeria has recorded notable progress due to sustained investments in security operations and intelligence gathering.

The minister added that the government remains committed to further strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

Warning Against Political Misinformation

Matawalle also accused some political actors of deliberately spreading misleading information about the administration.

He said certain individuals have continued to promote narratives that do not reflect the government’s efforts and achievements.

According to him, such actions risk creating unnecessary tension and undermining national unity.

The minister urged Nigerians to evaluate government policies based on facts rather than politically motivated claims.

Appeal To Nigerian Youths

Addressing young Nigerians, Matawalle advised them to avoid becoming tools in campaigns capable of causing division or unrest.

He encouraged youths to support initiatives that promote peace, development, and social stability.

The minister stressed that national progress requires constructive engagement rather than the spread of false information.

He also called on young people to play active roles in building stronger communities and supporting positive change.

Group Mobilises Support For Tinubu

Earlier, the Lead Convener of the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives, Yusuf Abubakar, explained that the gathering aimed to strengthen grassroots support for the President.

He said organisers wanted participants to better understand the administration’s policies, reforms, and development programmes.

Abubakar noted that increased public awareness would help citizens appreciate the objectives behind ongoing government initiatives.

He also commended Matawalle for supporting mobilisation efforts across states in the North-West region.

Community Leaders Attend Retreat

The event attracted dozens of representatives from community organisations, associations, and advocacy groups.

Participants came from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna states to discuss strategies for promoting peace, unity, and public engagement.

Organisers said stronger collaboration among stakeholders would help sustain support for government programmes and improve communication with local communities as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
