Former governor Peter Obi emerges 2027 presidential candidate for NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections following its party primaries.

The announcement came after a party process described as transparent and conducted under internal guidelines. Delegates from across the country reportedly participated in the election.

Obi secured a clear majority of votes to emerge as the party’s flag bearer. The outcome positioned him ahead of other contestants in the race.

In his acceptance speech, Obi thanked party members for their support. He described his emergence as a call to responsibility and national service.

He pledged to run a campaign focused on economic recovery, governance reforms, and national development. He also stressed the need for unity within the party.

According to him, collaboration among members will be essential ahead of the general election. Party leaders congratulated him and urged supporters to rally behind his candidacy.

The NDC also reaffirmed its commitment to presenting a credible alternative to Nigerian voters in 2027.
