Sowore Leads Protest Demanding Tinubu Resign – #OccupyAsoRock

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, is set to lead the #OccupyAsoRock and #TinubuMustResign protest today, Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Abuja. The march is aimed at demanding the release of abducted school children, teachers, and other victims of kidnappings across Nigeria.

Sowore announced the demonstration on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, June 3, stating that members of the AAC and the Take It Back (TIB) Movement will gather at Eagle Square at 8:00 a.m. before marching to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

“The peaceful march seeks the immediate return of children and other kidnapped victims,” Sowore wrote. “Participants will also call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure their safe release or resign for failing to protect the lives and security of Nigerians.”

The protest comes amid rising public outrage over recent mass abductions, including incidents in Oyo and Borno states, which have reignited concerns about school safety and the government’s ability to curb kidnappings.

Sowore emphasized that the demonstration includes a symbolic “school walkout” for all abducted children and victims, with chants and placards declaring: “Enough is enough! Tinubu must resign! End kidnappings now! Rescue all victims! Protect our schools!”

Activists, students, civil society groups, and concerned citizens are expected to join the protest, pressing for stronger security measures, accountability from authorities, and nationwide attention to the plight of kidnapped schoolchildren and other vulnerable citizens.
