Sunday Igboho Threatens to Expose Politicians Behind Oyo Students’ Abduction

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has vowed to publicly reveal the names of politicians he alleges are behind the Oyo Students’ Abduction. The warning comes amid heightened tensions following mass kidnappings that have shaken the region.

Igboho made the announcement while addressing the new executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in Soka, Ibadan. In a video captured by Wisdom TV, he said he had personally volunteered to pursue the bandits but was restricted by the state government.

The activist maintained that he has not demanded any funds from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to rescue the 47 abductees. He asserted that if he were permitted to operate, the kidnappers would flee immediately, and he threatened to expose the politicians allegedly funding and supplying the bandits if they continue their activities.

“The same tactics used against former President Jonathan are being repeated against President Tinubu. They aim to make governance impossible while spreading propaganda to mislead citizens. In Oyo, children were abducted. I offered to intervene, but the state government said ‘no,’” Igboho said.

He further claimed that after securing approval from the Federal Government to activate his security network, “Iru Ekun,” the Oyo State Government instructed him not to act, citing risks to the abducted children. He emphasized his commitment to protecting the victims and highlighted the strategic importance of neutralizing criminal elements in South-West forests.

The May 15 attacks targeted Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School. Approximately 45 pupils were abducted, and the incidents have raised alarm across the state. Reports indicate the kidnappers spoke Yoruba, Hausa, and Pidgin English, and security agencies have since cordoned off escape routes near Old Oyo National Park.

Tragically, one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was later beheaded in a video allegedly released by the bandits. This incident intensified Igboho’s resolve, prompting him to prepare his “Iru Ekun Security Network” to support lawful efforts to dislodge criminals.

Igboho stated that he remains ready to comply with the recent Executive Order issued by Governor Makinde to regulate private security operations in Oyo, emphasizing his focus on ensuring the safe return of all victims while holding perpetrators accountable.
