Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), arrived in Nigeria from China on Wednesday around 4:00 p.m., met by a massive crowd of youths from across the country. The entire Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja was filled with supporters eager to rally behind the social media critic.
Immediate March to Nigerian Air Force Base
Without delay, VDM led the Ratel Movement from the airport to the Nigerian Air Force Base in Abuja, where protesters staged a demonstration against the worsening security situation. Viral videos circulating widely on social media show hundreds of young Nigerians chanting slogans such as “Tinubu must go, APC must go, bandits must go, terrorists must go” as they marched in unison.
Criticism of the Tinubu Administration
VDM has consistently voiced strong criticism of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly over the surge in kidnappings, killings, and attacks by criminal groups across Nigeria. While in China, he publicly described the administration as incompetent and urged Nigerians to use the 2027 presidential elections to remove Tinubu and the APC from power.
Alleged Threats and Heightened Tensions
Ahead of his arrival, VDM warned of a potential attempt by authorities to detain him, a claim that sparked heightened anticipation and tension among his supporters. This concern did not prevent the rapid mobilization of protesters, demonstrating the strength and organization of the Ratel Movement.
Social Media Impact
Videos from the protest have been trending across multiple platforms, highlighting the scale of participation and the coordinated chants directed at the government. Observers noted that the size and immediacy of the protest at the Air Force Base reflect growing public frustration over national insecurity.
